National Volunteer Service of Papua New Guinea

Recurrent Volunteers

Recurrent Volunteers are individuals who, after successfully completing an initial term of national volunteer service, are re-engaged by the National Volunteer Service (NVS) for an additional period of service. Their re-engagement is based on demonstrated competence, commitment, positive performance evaluations, and the continued demand for volunteer support in advancing national development priorities.

These volunteers bring with them valuable experience, institutional knowledge, and proven skills that strengthen host organizations and communities. Their presence enhances service delivery, provides mentorship to new volunteers, and ensures continuity in ongoing programs. By leveraging their prior experience, Recurrent Volunteers are able to adapt quickly, contribute more effectively, and deliver sustained impact. They may be redeployed to the same host organization to build on previous work or reassigned to new placements where their expertise is most needed.

Through the engagement of Recurrent Volunteers, NVS reinforces capacity building, promotes efficiency, and maximizes the return on volunteer investments. Their continued service fosters leadership development, strengthens community resilience, and nurtures sustained civic responsibility. By valuing and re-engaging experienced volunteers, NVS ensures that volunteerism remains a powerful force for long-term national development and inclusive growth across Papua New Guinea.
